    Cindy Peterson was honored Friday night with the Hoosier Hero award for service to the American Red Cross.

Peterson, a Wawasee High School teacher and American Red Cross volunteer, received the award in a surprise presentation before the varsity basketball game. She was selected from among more than 30 nominees across the state.

    Mr. and Mrs. Ted Little, North Manchester, recently were named the winning couple in the Young Farmer awards program of the Indiana Farm Bureau at their convention at the Indianapolis Convention Center. The Littles will represent Indiana in the national contest Jan. 10 in Dallas, Texas. The contest is based on agricultural achievement.

    It's being kept a tight-lipped secret for the moment, but you can bet that our new telephone directories for 1958 (Warsaw and area exchanges) will again feature an attractive girl when they roll off the press sometime next January or before.

Carefully selected to brighten the directory will be a picture of 19-year-old Maurine Smith, talented and attractive Milford girl. Appearing on page two of the directory, the attractive brunette possesses a charm and radiant Smile. She is the daughter of Rev. (and Mrs.) W. Harlan Smith.

    John Piper, of Warsaw, was among the 22 football players of Manchester College, at North Manchester, who was awarded one of the small golf footballs at college chapel for playing in the 1932 schedule. Piper is backfield captain. Virgil McCleary, son of Harvey D. McCleary, Wayne Township trustee, was among football players awarded numerals.
