10 Years AgoNeal Carlson was honored last week by the Kiwanis International Foundation, when he was awarded the George F. Hixon Fellowship. The award is in recognition of Carlson's support of Kiwanis International's WorldWide Service Project to eliminate iodine deficient disorders, the world's leading cause of preventable mental retardation. The local club has raised $22,000 for the cause. Charles Turner has been the local chairman for the past five years.25 Years AgoA Christmas musical program was shared recently at the December Warsaw Optimist Club meeting. There were 91 members attending. Ethel Anderson and the Grace belles performed the seven Christmas songs in celebration of the holiday season.Richard Anderson directed the choral numbers. Phoebe Strong and Nancy Anderson played a duet on the bells. Other members of the Grace Belles are Sue Bachert, Kathleen Beg, Twyla Burger, Donna Dubbs, Elizabeth Farner, Jaunita Hartzler, Kim Hawkins, Elizabeth Hertzler, Mary Hogan, Gretchen Mason, Deborah Matthes, Laurie Maus, Kay Wilson and Jill Yates.50 Years AgoMiss Carole Hartle, daughter of the James Hartles, Warsaw, arrived home from DePauw University, Greencastle, for Christmas vacation. Carole is a sophomore science major. Mr. Hartle's brother, Robert Hartle, of Chicago, is coming for Christmas also.75 Years AgoMiss Caroline Cottingham entertained at a party at her home in this city, on the occasion of her sixth birthday anniversary. Games and contests were enjoyed and refreshments were served to 16 little guests. Favors of paper hats and candy were given.
