Whipping winds nearing cyclonic proportions lashed viciously here Monday to early Tuesday morning, Nov. 11-12. Houses were unroofed in some places. Lamp posts were blown over. Telephone lines and poles were leveled. Electric lines were strewn over the highways. Ornamental globes in uptown street lights were blown from their rests and strewn across the streets in the form of broken glass. Sign boards were lifted from their bases. Trees were uprooted. Large branches came down along sidewalks, endangering lives of those who might pass beneath.

The high wind blew the roof off the school building at Talma and also caused damage to the walls. School was dismissed on Tuesday while repairs were made.
