    Warsaw Community High School junior Summer Boyd will represent Kosciusko County and Indiana in the 1998 National Junior Olympics Cross Country Championship, held Dec. 12 in Lisle, Ill.

Boyd was one of 63 girls who competed for this honor Nov. 21 on the Southparkway course in Indianapolis. This was the state's 5000M regional competition. Boyd place fourth with a time of 20:15.

    FORT WAYNE - Former Warsaw Community High School and Franklin College standout Judi Warren, winner of the first-ever Miss Basketball award in 1976, will play with other noted women basketball players at halftime here of the Indiana-Purdue of Fort Wayne basketball game against St. Francis.

Warren will be part of a special halftime scrimmage highlighting former area basketball stars.

December 2 1958

    LaMar Kilmer, of Syracuse, still leads the county in individual high school basketball scoring with a total of 110 points in six games, or an average of 18.3 points per game.

Mark Crane, of Pierceton, moved into second position, nine points behind Kilmer with 101. Dick Woods, of Beaver Dam, is a newcomer to the list of the "top ten" as he holds down third position with a total of 98 points.

December 2 1933

    Dr. Roswell K. Brown, former student at Winona College, has been honored by being voted by the congress of American physicians in session recently at Chicago as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. After attending school at Winona Lake, Brown received his A.B. degree at Wooster College in 1919. He has practiced medicine in Egypt and Syria. Brown has also spent two summers studying surgery at Vienna, Austria.
