Joni Truex and Ruth Voreis received a Resolution of Appreciation and handpainted lamp in appreciation of their work with the Health Care Foundation of Kosciusko County. Truex has served on the board since October 2000; Voreis began her tenure in April 1999. Their tenure with the board ends in December.

Mayor Jeff Plank said the Center Lake Pavilion will be closed until March. A Dec. 2 fire caused significant damage to restrooms and the upstairs area. The Mayor also said the new Senior Opportunity Center at the Pete Thorn building will open Jan. 15.

Paulene Holderman, vice president, cashier and secretary of the board of directors of First National Bank of Warsaw, will retire Dec. 31 after almost 40 years of service, starting in 1951. Fire Chief Norman Banghart presents an award to John R. Craig for being named Warsaw "Volunteer Fireman of the Year" Thursday, Dec. 9, having been with the department for nine years. Previous winners are Leo Orr, John Ladd, William Walgamuth Sr., E.F. (Swede) Rydquist. Max Huffer, last year's winner, presents a wrist watch to Wayne Schaaf, who is retiring after 19 years. Charles Morrison was accepted as a new volunteer fireman on the department.
75 Years
"Minick," a three-act comedy play, will be presented Wednesday night, Dec. 11, on the stage of the Warsaw High School auditorium, directed by J. Allan Campbell, dramatic instructor. Junior Unowicz plays Old Man Minick, who comes to live with his son and daughter-in-law, Fred (Robert Haney) and Nettie (Mary Moon). Others in the cast are Eleanor Ewing, Robbin Knouff, Evelyn Booth, Bill Lafler, Barbara Shipley, Betty Lou Overmyer, Fred Strauss Jr., Jack Doswell, Erna Pottenger, Marilyn Amos, Margaret Petro and Evelyne Hugo.
Bob Bayne, former Warsaw High School football star, was named Nov. 28 as one of Ball State College's most promising candidates for the 1941 Cardinal Eleven. He will team with Junior Ferguson, Warsaw, on next year's gridiron team.
