Firefighter Kevin Gelbaugh received the Fireman of the Year honor during the annual Christmas party held by the Winona Lake Fire Department. Gelbaugh’s father, Assistant Chief Roger Gelbaugh, made the presentation. The designation is given to the firefighter who best demonstrates dedication and commitment to the fire service.

A familiar face to Warsaw Community High School sports fans will soon be operating Kaiser’s restaurant in downtown Warsaw. Gordy Clemens, a former basketball standout at WCHS and later at Franklin College, is returning to Warsaw this weekend after living in Australia the past two years. There, he was player-coach in a professional basketball league.

Miss Kathryn Kaufman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Kaufman, Warsaw, is home from Valparaiso University for the holidays. A freshman, she plans to major in theater arts.

Bruce Boley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Boley, Warsaw, will get home from Indiana University Thursday evening. Bruce is a sophomore sociology major. The Boleys will spend Christmas with Robert Boley’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Boley, in Charleston, Ill.

“The Lost Sister Among the Miamis” is the title of an attractive book recently published under the authorship of Otho Winger, president of Manchester College, North Manchester. The subject of the book deals with the kidnapping of Frances Slocum by the Delaware Indians and the interesting phases of her life with that tribe of redskins, which in later years settled in the Mississenawa Valley southeast of Peru.
