    No one was injured when a building housing two solid waste digestors exploded recently at the North Manchester sewer plant. Methane gas appears to be the cause of the explosion, public safety director Jack Fetrow said at the scene. The explosion left cracks throughout the building’s outer wall. The wastewater treatment plant crew was on break when the incident occurred.

   Warsaw Community High School’s wrestling team ran its record to an impressive 10-1 mark with a convincing 58-12 win over Bremen recently. The lone loss this season for the Tigers was at the hands of the state’s top-ranked Bellmont. The Warsaw junior varsity set the tone for the night as they won 31-6. Winning for the Tigers were Jason Kelvin (112); Jason Finch (112); Chris Rager (110); Keith Everest (130); Aaron York (140); and Andy Young (160).

    A fitting climax to Courtesy Week at Warsaw Community High School was the crowning of Bill Cook, 17, and Kerry Anglin, 18, as “Mr. and Miss Courtesy.” They were chosen the most courteous students at the school by the entire student body. Bill is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cook, and Kerry is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Anglin, both of Warsaw. Runners-up in the contest were Sonja Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Johnson, and Jack Schutz, son of Mrs. Lenora Schutz.

   Francis Miller, a student at Indiana University, is spending his Christmas vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Miller. During this time he is assisting in the office of the Bishopp Coal Company.
     Matt Dalton, who is in training at the Culver Military Academy, left via air recently from Chicago for Beverly Hills, Calif., where he will spend his three-weeks Christmas vacation with his mother, Mrs. Jessie S. Dalton.
