A Christmas Tribute

“I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free. I won’t forget the men who died that gave that right to me. I am an American living in a land of liberty. I am an American living in a land that’s free. I am an American choosing my destiny. I am an American choosing my democracy. I thank all the soldiers that are in the war. God Bless America!!” Kali Volkert, Warsaw, age 9.

A simple error in initialing procedures led to the elimination - at least temporarily - of 133 of 134 ballots in a Jackson Township precinct recently by the Indiana State Board of Accounts. The invalidation of the ballots was part of the 3rd District recount in Kosciusko County. The state board of accounts’ decision will later be reviewed by the recount commission, which could reinstate the ballots.

Congressman Charles Halleck has sent a special gift to the Grace College student body - a flag that used to fly over the White House. Halleck sent the flag to Grace after the student council had asked for one that had actually been on the White House flag pole. The flag was flown from the White House on July 4 of this year and will soon fly in front of the Grace Seminary building on the campus.
