10 Years Ago A daughter named Kylee was born to Sally Swihart and Tom Armey, Warsaw, Tuesday morning, Jan. 1 at Kosciusko Community Hospital. Kylee was born at 4:41 a.m., making her the first baby born at KCH in 2002. She weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and was delivered by Dr. Andrew Anglemeyer.
25 Years Ago The first baby of the new year born at Kosciusko Community Hospital is Ashley LeAnn Regenos, the daughter of Linda and Mark Regenos of Warsaw. The girl was born on New Year’s Day at 7:59 a.m. She is the couple’s second child. The baby has two half-brothers, Kyle, 7, and Dustin, 4, and a half-sister, Courtney, 9.
50 Years Ago Eric Lowell Welty, born to Mrs. Lowell Welty of Etna Green, was the first New Year’s Day baby born at the Murphy Medical Center, arriving at 12:37 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1. He weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces and has four sisters, Pamela, 10, Lana, 9, Lue Anne, 8, and Eve, 4. His mother’s maiden name was Mary Lou Johnson.
75 Years Ago The New Year, 1937, was ushered in at midnight by the blowing of whistles, shooting of revolvers, tooting of horns, ringing of bells and shouts of rejoicing. It was was one of the noisiest New Year’s of recent years. Many New Year’s parties were held and the flowing bowl was much in evidence at New Year’s parties. Police were kind and considerate of celebrants as there was not an arrest for public intoxication.
