    An essay contest was held at Lakeview Middle School in conjunction with a musical program celebrating Veterans Day.

Students in Sherry Plummer's English classes wrote essays on "What I Love About America." The winning essays were written by seventh-graders Summer Jones and Zachary Woodward.

    Jean Coverstone, lifetime Kosciusko County resident and associate professor of art at Grace College, has recently published Landmarks of Art, an art appreciation textbook for use in the Christian college classroom. The book is designed to acquaint its readers with basic landmarks in art that have influenced western civilization.

    Nine Winona Lake residents were honored recently for their years of service to the Free Methodist Publishing House at a Christmas dinner held at Honeywell Memorial, Wabash.

Publisher Lloyd Knox presented service pins to Earl Wagner and Howard Croy, five years; Ruth Wulliman and John Groat, 10 years; Merrille Wolkins, Gertrude Graham, Myra Van Lalin and William Laird, 15 years; and Ruth Matson, 20 years.

    Doll babies, repaired by Warsaw firemen and dressed by Freda Hugh, Glendora Davis, Freda Heyerly and Pearl Williams, are attracting much attention in the display window of the Milady Beauty parlors. Firemen Santa Clause will distribute them Christmas eve.
