If anyone deserves special recognition during the current sub-zero cold wave, it's the grade school patrolman. Chip Neer, 10, is just one of the many Warsaw boys and girls who protect the other children at street crossings as they go to and from school. With the temperature reading 10 below zero this morning, it was no easy chore. Chip is one of the Center Ward patrol boys. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Neer, Warsaw.
WABASH - Although Walter Brookover is 83, his feet never have felt a modern shoe, and he has owned only one pair of shoes in his life. Brookover said he discarded his first and only pair of shoes when he was a child because they were uncomfortable. Since then he has worn leather boots. The boots cost $20 a pair and are made by hand by a cobbler.
