 Warsaw Community High School Choral Department will present its holiday concert Dec. 14 in the Lakeview Middle School auditorium. The concert, titled “Sing We Noel,” is under the direction of Scott Avery and accompanied by Deb Bishop, with the students and audience singing “Silent Night.” Some students perform the song using sign language.
Kim Dawson and her daughter, Lynae, decorated one of 55 gingerbread houses at Rodeheaver Auditorium, which was part of Village at Winona’s Holiday Festival.
Warsaw’s Ivy Tech campus dedicated its new science education center. The campus had been renting space for science classes from Grace College.

Whitko High School’s drama department will present “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” Dec. 9, with shows at 4 and 7:30 p.m. The choral department will host a steak dinner between shows. Under the supervision of director Laura Shepherd and seniors Rhonda Lysaght and Dawn Jennings, the cast includes high school, middle school and elementary students: Brooke Bowerman, Marcie Bumgardner, Chad Collier, Stephanie Crabill, Jacquie Enyeart, Nicole Hine, Jenny Metzger, Melanie McNanama, Shawn Sammons, Shawna Swanson, Rosalyn Tucker, Jared Watson, Emily and Rachel Brown, Andrea Clausen, Drew Dial, Audra Eberly, Jason Egoff, James Gaskins, Marilia and Marissalyn Hicks, Derek Hockemeyer, Jennifer Huey, Heath Lortie, Justin Shilling, Travis Trump and Steven Wagner.
Pierceton eighth-grade girls basketball team beat Syracuse 41-6 as Jamie Collier had 18 and Cindy Hine, eight. Their record is now 4-0.

 Arlene Anglin was selected the 1964-65 Milford High School basketball queen. Larwill High School’s queen will be crowned at the school’s first home game with Huntington Catholic. Candidates are Elizabeth Baxter, Lynette Nichols, Karen Reid and Gloria Valdez.
Geri Bauer, Syracuse, has been selected as the “Good Citizen” from the senior class of Syracuse High School, sponsored by DAR.
L.N. “Pete” Thorn was honored at the Hoosier Area Council Boys’ Clubs of America dinner at the Elks Club Nov. 18. He was presented with a Distinguished Service Award for 25 years as director of Warsaw Baker Boys’ Club.

Jonas Rickel, Kosciusko County farmer residing near Beaver Dam, harvested a bumper potato crop this year totaling 651 bushels. Many potatoes weighed from 2 to 2-1/2 pounds. The crop was harvested in two days by using a potato digger. Frank Sellers, Vernol Cole and Mack Zellers helped.
Recruiting of Warsaw’s National Guard unit to a strength of 84 men in compliance with a war department order has been very slow when it was learned today that the organization is short 17 men of the prescribed strength. Since the order was issued only four men have enlisted at the armory, which is open each Monday night.
Bubbles Hargrave began his baseball career in 1909 with the old Warsaw Maroons. Later, he caught for the Cincinnati Reds.
