 Ronnie Shoemaker, a freshman at Warsaw Community High School, has his name on a compact disc that will go into space on the Deep Impact spacecraft, which is expected to collide with the comet Tempel 1, making this the first mission ever to look deep inside a comet. The spacecraft was launched last week and should catch up to the comet July 4. He received a letter from Michael F. A'Hearn, Principal Investigator, dated Jan. 23, 2004, thanking him for participating in the CD project sponsored by NASA.

 "Saints Alive" is a new club for children kindergarten through sixth grade, sponsored by Saint Andrew's United Methodist Church of Syracuse Jan. 17 through Feb. 28. Helen Bunnell, Mary Prescott, Myra Lackey and Rev. Richard Bunnell.
Custom Tile Company celebrated their grand opening Saturday, Jan. 13 at their new location, 2621 East Jefferson St., Warsaw, across from Neck of the Woods.
David E. Roycraft and Kenneth R. Saeger have joined Dalton Foundries; Dale L. Cooper has been promoted to supervisor-maintenance supplies. He has been with the company for 11 years.

Mrs. Nettie Farmer journeyed hundreds of miles from Springfield, Ore., to help mark her sister's 50th wedding anniversary party Sunday, Jan. 10. Mrs. Farmer, 71, hadn't seen her sister, Mrs. Alva Summers, in 15 years. Mrs. Summers (Esther Rearick) was brought to Rochester by her foster parents. More than 100 persons filled the Summers' home.
Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. Superintendent Robert Forbes presented a trophy to the Claypool Knights for winning the Kosciusko County basketball tournament. Claypool defeated Silver Lake 60-45 for its second straight tourney title: Coye Conley, Larry and Charlie McKenzie, Dave Shively, Alan Sands, Steve and Doug Ault, James Patrick, Larry Evans, Hal Gunter and Coach Tom Miller.

 Dick Redenbaugh, Storm Lake, Iowa, has accepted a position with the Gamble company here. Mr. and Mrs. Redenbaugh are making their home at the Chateau, North Washington Street.
Sixty-five years ago, Jan. 6, 1875, Dr. and Mrs. U.B. Cline were united in marriage in a rural home one mile west of Silver Lake. The building is long since gone but stood on what is now the Roy Leonard farm.
