Kathy and Richard Barnhart, 902 Wooster Road, Winona Lake, have built a Christmas tree that operates to music. Through an intricate system of single colored strings of light, computer programs and a single watt FM radio station, you can listen to the music on your radio while watching the lights. The best way to view and listen to the musical tree is to park in the east parking lot of Alpha Dorm at Grace College. Richard teaches computer information systems at Grace. Kathy enjoys baking cookies and passing them out to those who come to watch.
Members of Troop 715 helped distribute 15,000 pounds of potatoes at the Kosciusko REMC parking lot: Andy and William Anderson, Taylor and David Zigon, Scott and Trent McClintock. David McCleary organized the project.

 A 1,100-acre Hoosier Homestead farm in Whitley County is home to this year’s Indiana Conservation Farmer of the Year, Harold Myers, Columbia City, named the state winner at the Indiana Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual conference. He and his son, Mike, operate the more than 100-year-old farm.
Dedication of a frontage street connecting Springhill Acres and Provident Drive marks the completion of phase one of Kosciusko Community Hospital’s MedPark Sub-Division project. A frontage street will run from the hospital to Richards Restaurant. Project developer Donald Scearce said a regional medical service campus will be established – 14 lots have been plotted.

Seven Warsaw High School students won top awards in a speech tournament consisting of 330 contestants from 15 high schools: Carolyn Horton, Dave Barnett, Connie Latta, Chris Silveus, Ron Shoemaker, Andy Arnold and Beth Anglin.
Jefferson Elementary School fish fry top sellers: Cynthia Knouff, Joel Pratt, Colleen Ogden, Sandra Coy, Cynthia Rife, Karen Moore, Vicky Rockey, Ruth Bettinger, Kathy Prout, Cathy Cron, Lana King and Katrina Rife.
New members of the Alpha Beta chapter of Sigma Beta Phi Sorority: Mrs. Dennis Plummer, Mrs. Richard L. Carman and Mrs. William Colliver.
Marie Love is commercial department teacher at Warsaw Senior High School.

A shiny new trophy adorns the display window of the Hartsock garage. Frank won the coveted distinction of having the highest average of car sales in this district.
Oct. 8, 1939, was the 16th anniversary of the publication of the first edition of the Daily Times in the building it now occupies. The newspaper entered its new headquarters in 1923, moved in equipment and all from former headquarters without missing an edition. It has been published 58 years, 42 of those years in offices on South Buffalo Street.
Lawrence Siders, president of Warsaw Kiwanis Club, addressed the organization at a dinner at the Hotel Hays. He spoke on activities at the state convention held in Evansville.
