10 Years

Leesburg Elementary School held its annual "Breakfast with Santa" Saturday, Dec. 3. Activities included face painting, craft room, and a store for students to purchase gifts for Mom and Dad. Nia Cervantes, 4, told Santa what she wanted.

    To kick off a book fair and Jinglebell Shop at North Webster Elementary School, Hunter Holstein, Jeff Parzygnot, Mindy and Abby Morehead came to school in their pajamas for the day. Milk and cookies were served in the cafeteria and students read aloud in the library.

    For its third concert this season, the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra launches a new tradition--a "Messiah" sing-along at Rodeheaver Auditorium Friday, Dec. 9. Patrick Kavanaugh is conductor.

25 Years

Ethel Aust Anderson, founder of the Grace Community Orchestra, will conduct the orchestra in her farewell concert Sunday, Dec. 9, in Rodeheaver Auditorium. In 1968, she started a string quartet at Grace College, and in May 1983, a small string ensemble performed at Rodeheaver. Also performing Sunday is the Warsaw Youth String Orchestra, Warsaw Community Choir, Dr. Edgar Lovelady on the classical guitar, harpist William Newcum of Leesburg, and soprano Mary Lu Cannon. A special feature is the symphonic fairy tale "Peter and the Wolf" narrated by her husband, Rev. Richard Anderson, who also directs the Warsaw Community Choir in the finale with the Grace Community Orchestra.

50 Years

Triton Future Farmers of America: Randy and Stan Klotz, Mike Zentz, Randy Glingle, Jerry Lent, Chuck Hepler, Mike Worsham, Henry Hochstetler, Johnny Johnston, Jan Gawthrop, Mike Stackhouse and Dick Stoneburner, president.

    "Century of Song," a program featuring music from 1865 to 1965, will be presented on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 16 and 17, by the Warsaw High School Choral Department under the direction of Miss Margaret Ann Voirol. Dressed in the period of the "Gay Nineties" are Gene Steiner, Jane Heaton, Lynn Taylor and Virginia Johnston. Service uniforms from all branches of the service will be worn. A special feature: Chautauqua numbers announced by James Heaton Sr.

 

75 Years

Robert Underhill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony D. Underhill, of Warsaw, and student at Manchester College, will be included in the 1940-41 edition of "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities." A junior, he is majoring in speech and English, member of the student council, one of the editors of the school year book, and was president of his class last year.

    David Lloyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lloyd, of Warsaw, is among the Ashland College, Ashland, Ohio, seniors nominated by the personnel committee to represent the college in the 1941 edition of "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." He is editor of the "Collegian," former editor of "Pine Whispers" college year book, and member of the Footlighter's Club.
