Winners in the Gingerbread Extravaganza at the Old Jail Museum: ages 1 through 9 – Morgan Ancil, first; Oscar Tienda, second; Saulito Pedroza, third; ages 10 through 15 – Bethany Ransbottom and Gabriella Hernandez, a tie for first place; nonprofessional category – Gloria Coverdale, first; Deniese Rickel, second; Tara Ott, third. There were 14 entries.
Akron Elementary School Spell Bowl team, 4th- and 5th-grade members: Just Morgan, Daniel Miller, Alex Salyer, Kortney Mayorga, Brody Jordan, Kameron Larimer, Audrey Whetstone, Shane Hallstrom, Jade Hall, Jon Hagg and coach Sally Bales.

 Warsaw Child Care Center 1, 802 North Park Ave., Warsaw, will host an open house and children’s craft bazaar Dec. 6. Santa will visit and refreshments will be served. Children helping are Kaleb Neukam, Steven Hall, Sean Smith, Mallory Hepler and Stacy Jones.
Since his debut Nov. 24, KC the squirrel has been popping up at different events around the county, on the radio and billboards. KC is the animated character developed by the Convention and Visitors Bureau to help promote the county.
Dr. Larry Crabb, superintendent of Warsaw Community Schools, has been elected to the board of the Indiana Community Education Association based out of Ball State University.
The Lady Tigers are currently ranked No. 2 in the state. Angie Johnson and her teammates are back in action as they entertain No. 18 Fort Wayne Northrop.

 Mrs. Donald Ring, Mrs. John Kirkwood, Mrs. Lowell Reed and Mrs. Robert Merkle are making plans for the Claypool PTO’s chicken supper at the school Saturday.
A “mystery dinner” was served to the Bourbon firemen at the Corner Cafe in Bourbon. Paul Walters, host, recently returned from a hunting trip to Wyoming. The boys “think” they ate venison and antelope – maybe other delicacies, too.
Little “skunks” Marybeth Marol, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marol, Warsaw, and Elizabeth Lessig, took first-place honors in the animal masquerade classification at the costume judging Halloween night at the Warsaw Armory. Ruth Bettinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Bettinger, Warsaw, dressed as “Mary and her Little Lamb,” took second prize.

 The membership campaign of the Loyal Order of Moose is being launched by two teams: “I Will,” captain E.C. Lytal and “Victory,” captain Ward Sittler. The losing team will banquet the winners. Initiation will be Oct.  24. Russell Bixel was appointed membership chairman and will keep a record of the attendance.
With extra clerks on the floor and new merchandise stacked high on the counters, Sharp Hardware, south side of court house square, and Sharp’s at Milford, opened their doors Oct. 12 to what promises to be the greatest sale of their history at pre-war prices. Owner Thomas L. Sharp has restricted the sale to three days.
Mrs. Lloyd Perkins, Warsaw, an employee at the W.R. Thomas store is on vacation. Mrs. Ned Maze, of this city, is employed in her absence.
