A team of four individuals representing Kosciusko 4-H and Indiana traveled to Louisville, Ky., to take part in the third annual National 4-H Invitational Livestock Skill-a-thon Contest, which was held at the North American International Livestock Exposition on Nov. 12. Team members were Sean Dunnuck, Shanna Krull, Hayley Wertenberger and Marc Roberts. The team was coached by Tracy George. The team ended up placing 10th in the nation out of 14 teams.

Winona Lake fire chief Ed Purrington was awarded a plaque of appreciation for five years service as chief to the town. Purrington submitted his resignation to the town at the December board meeting. Presenting the award was town board member Dick Taylor.

Miss Jeannine Witham of Atwood was one of the soloists in a concert the Purduettes and the Purdue Glee Club gave in Chicago recently for the Indiana Society in the Conrad Hilton Hotel. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Witham, Jeannine is a freshman member of the Purduettes singing ensemble.

The Warsaw Kiwanis Club was host to the members of the debating team of the Warsaw High school at the Thursday luncheon. The debaters, Isabell Rarick, Ora Pottenger, Dona Rose Symonds, Phil Lucier, Jack Thomas, William Wagner, Junior Eherenman and Harry Bloomer, were introduced to the club.
