    Former Warsaw basketball player Tiffany Ross, who now plays for Grand Rapids Community College, was named Player of the Week in the Western Conference of Michigan Community Colleges for the week of January 4-9.

In four league games, Ross is leading the team in scoring with 14.2 point per game, rebounding with 12.2 per game and field goal percentage at 67 percent.

    Temperature records were set across Indiana this morning from an artic air mass which rolled into the Midwest from Siberia, the National Weather Service said.

The Times-Union thermometer chart in downtown Warsaw read 12 degrees below zero at 7 and 8 a.m. today, but a 14 below reading was registered at the WRSW radio transmitter site just off the shores of Winona Lake.

    Eighty-three-year-old Charles "Halley" Hall, North Webster retired barber, seldom misses a county basketball tournament and this year is no exception. During last night's (16th) game between North Webster and Silver Lake, he asked Edwin Tom Jr., 3, if he could have a bit of his ice cream bar. "Sure," said Eddie, "but let's hurry. I don't want to miss any of this game." Webster won 46-37 which means "Halley" will be back again today.
