More than 250 people turned out Monday at Edgewood Middle School to let the Warsaw School Board know where they stand on the proposed $1 million restructuring and addition projects. Two-thirds of those attending were supporters of Silver Lake Elementary, which will be closed if the Oct. 15 proposal is accepted by the school board.

This is a dessert recipe submitted to the Spotlight Contest for Pumpkin Pie Squares.
1 cup flour; 1/2 cup oatmeal; 1/2 cup brown sugar; 1 (12 oz.) can pumpkin; 1 (13-1/2 oz.) can evaporated milk; 2 eggs; 3/4 cup sugar; 1/2 tsp. salt; 1 tsp. cinnamon; 1/2 tsp. ginger; 1/4 tsp. cloves; 1/2 cup chopped pecans; 1/2 cup brown sugar; 2 tbsp. butter. Combine first 4 ingredients. Mix until crumbly. Press into 13x9 greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Combine pumpkin, milk, eggs, sugar and spices. Beat well, pour in crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Combine pecans, sugar, butter. Sprinkle over top. Bake at 350 degrees 15-20 minutes or until filling is set. Serve warm or chilled with whipped cream. Janet L. Miss Mildred Sloane, student of Manchester College, visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. John Sloane. Miss Helen Watkins accompanied Miss Sloane to North Manchester where they attended the Ball State-Manchester College homecoming football game.
Jerry Overmyer returned recently to this city after attending the Ford dealers’ convention in Detroit where the new 1937 Ford was first shown.
