Ground-breaking ceremonies were held for the new Hacienda Mexican restaurant that will be constructed along U.S. 30 in Warsaw. The store, the company's 12th, is expected to open in May. The 8,000-square-foot restaurant will seat 300 people and will mark the first time in the company's 20-year history that it won't encompass a renovated building.
Lynn M. Jurss, currently a Purdue University student and a former member of the Warsaw Community High School Chapter of Future Farmers of America, has been nominated to receive the American Farmer Degree, which is the highest degree presented by the National Future Farmers of America organization.
Ruth Rapp, Syracuse, received a citation for her many years of service as a Syracuse school teacher during a recent meeting of the Classroom Teachers of America Association. The meeting, held at Syracuse, was attended by teachers from Warsaw, Nappanee, Goshen, Mentone, Milford and Leesburg. The 100th anniversary of the association was celebrated.
Within the past month egg prices on the Warsaw retail market have almost doubled. Eggs retailed about a month ago at 17 cents a dozen and now bringing at retail 29 cents a dozen, a gain of 12 cents. Wholesale prices have also taken a quick up-turn, which is benefiting the farmers.
