After 24 years as the Tippecanoe Township trustee, Richard Mitchell is calling it quits when his term finishes at the end of this year. He ran for the position - his first - in 1978 and then took office in 1979. Of course, he’s not planning to get away from the trustee’s office completely. He said he plans to run for the township advisory board so that whoever takes over for him will have help to make it a smooth transition.

The Kosco Kippers of the YMCA Gymnastics have been very active and received the following places at Valparaiso: Darcy Cunningham, second bars, fifth beam, fifth all around; Heather Imhoff, fourth vault, sixth bars, seventh beam, eighth floor, fifth all around; Stephanie Ellis, seventh floor.

Warsaw High School Football Coach Bill Goshert reported that Dick Lesh, all-conference quarterback for the Warsaw football team this past season, has been chosen to participate in the National High School all-star football game at Oklahoma City, Okla., on May 19. Goshert said he will confer with the IHSAA, and must have its full approval before the offer can be accepted. Lesh, a senior, received a certificate that he had been selected for the team, presented by Wigwam Wiseman of America. Mose Simmons is the football chairman.

At a meeting of the Rotary Club recently, Mr. Leucke, manager of the Wilson Cheese plant, gave an interesting discourse concerning the manufacture of cheese. The Warsaw plant is using about 35,000 pounds of milk each day and is producing about 4,000 pounds of cheese daily. Twenty-two men are employed. Approximately five hours is required to manufacture the cheese and from 30 to 40 days to cure. At the local plant only American cheese is manufactured and it is marketed close to the place of manufacture.
