Peggy Shively, director of Family and Social Services Administration, was named the 1997 Woman of the Year in recognition of her years of service to the children of Kosciusko County.
Man of the Year for 1997 was Al Disbro, vice president and branch manager for Lake City Bank. Disbro was cited for the many hours he has volunteered as a photographer for groups and events all over the county.

Bob Gates has rolled what is believed to be the first 300 game ever at Holiday Lanes. The Warsaw bowler achieved the feat bowling for Leiter Real Estate in the Industrial League.
Four city keglers have scored 300 games at Gilliam Lanes, including Glen Ransbottom, Bob Warner, Dick Jordan and Jim Wickersham.

Jerry Smith, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith M. Smith, North Webster, has started a 16-week course in radioman's school at Norfolk, Va. A graduate of North Webster High School last May, he enlisted in the Navy Oct. 8.
He was battalion clerk while in boot training at Great Lakes, Ill.

Total receipts of the town were $17,106.20 and total expenditures amounted to $11,940.43, leaving a balance on hand on Dec. 31, 1932, of $5,165.77
