Manchester College senior Nick Juday, a former football standout at NorthWood High School, has been selected to the National All-Stars Bowl April 10 at  Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, Ky. Juday, who started at wide receiver as well as punted, will also compete in a football scouting combine April 9 where scouts from various professional leagues will see the players. In his career with the Spartans Juday was named NCAA Freshman All-American, Manchester College Special Teams MVP for four straight years, and was named three times to the HCAC All-Conference Team.

Warsaw Community High School’s wrestling team won the team trophy at its own Super Dual Saturday as the Tigers remain undefeated. The fifth-ranked Tigers posted a 4-0-1 record, with the team tying Mishawaka in the final match of the day. Warsaw’s Aaron Bruce pinned his opponent in the second period. Also picking up decisions for the Tigers: Bobby Taylor, Troy Lutes, Dan Moon, Jon Cook and Eric Johnson. Nate Conley and Chris Neeley lost decisions.

The best food in town last Monday was on the third floor of the courthouse where employees were having a potluck feast honoring those staff who were to leave Dec. 31. Honored guests were Thomas K. Warner, outgoing county auditor; Mrs. Louis Snyder, first deputy clerk in the office of Carl Zimmer, county assessor; and Ed Bowser, janitor.
Lyle Martin was elected president of the Winona Lake Town Board Wednesday after members were administered the oath of office by Attorney William Gerard. Other Board members are Lester Pifer and Porter Polston. Paul Tschetter is clerk-treasurer.
A team composed of 19 young men from the Warsaw Boy’s Club defeated a six-member team from Goshen 62-58. High scorers from Warsaw were Steve Yeager, 12 points; Tom Hartman, 10 points; Paul Howard with eight.

The Kiwanis Club held its regular weekly luncheon at the Hotel Hays. Marie Sohaski, county Red Cross nurse, talked of the progress of the Red Cross here.
