Albert G. Smith, 73, of Warsaw, received his second Bronze Star for service to the nation in combat, even though it was 54 years late. He wrote to President Clinton asking for his help in his being awarded a silver star. After the Army reviewed the records, they awarded him a Bronze Star with an oak leaf cluster. The oak leaf cluster signifies more than one awarding of the decoration.
Howard and Earlene Wright, of Warsaw, traveled to Fairbanks, Alaska, by motor home recently to spend nine weeks with their son and daughter-in-law. They also visited their nephew, Jerry Meredith, son of former Claypool residents.
Mrs. William Pittenger, of Warsaw, newly elected state president of Lambda Chi Omega sorority, was recently presented with a gift at Upsilon chapter's fall party and potluck in the REMC building.
The young peoples' bridge club of Claypool was cleverly entertained at a Halloween party at the home of Miss Marie Salmon. High bridge scores were held by Pauline Shively and Max Beigh. Delicious refreshments were served to those in attendance.
