WINONA LAKE - Clerk-Treasurer Retha Hicks has been appointed to a seat on the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns Executive Committee and was named chairman of IACT’s Site Selection Committee, according to Marilyn Morrison, IACT president and clerk-treasurer of Warren. IACT is a nonprofit association and the largest organization representing municipal government in the state, which includes all 117 Hoosier cities and 363 towns.

The Warsaw Kiwanis Club has donated a pavilion to the City of Warsaw. The shelter, which is located in the Airport Park currently under development, was built by the Kiwanis Club. Those present for the donation were: Tom Flora, Kiwanis board member; Karen Sheetz, Warsaw airport manager; Jeff Plank, Warsaw mayor; and Bruce Andrews, Kiwanis president.

Little Rex Keirn, only 15 months old, was probably one of the youngest fans at the Kosciusko County High School basketball tournament in Syracuse - and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Keirn, of Mentone, made sure he was fully prepared by loading him with popcorn. The youngster saw his favorites - the Mentone Bulldogs - defeat Claypool 77-51 to advance to the afternoon’s semi-final round against Pierceton.

Kosciusko County Medical Society met in its regular 6 o’clock monthly dinner at the Hotel Hays here recently, followed by adjournment to offices of Dr. C.C. DuBois where the usual scientific session was held. General discussion of treatment of common colds was followed by reading of a treatise on “pneumonia,” with special attention to serum therapy by Dr. Max D. Garber.
