Class Act Dance Troupe, a non-profit performing group at Debra Collier's School of Dance, recently competed and placed second in three categories at the Dance Makers Inc. competition in Chicago, Ill., qualifying them for nationals in June in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Students are April Kuhn, Brittany Mason, Alexis Hollar, Hillary Umbaugh, Torie Mason, Andrea Kindig, Jenna Gross, Brittani Panula, Jessica Hollar, Krystal Kindig, Holly Davis, Kerri Wrobel, Kasi Carlin, Ashley Dirck, Allison Davis, Ashley Carpenter, Kerry Hepler, Jillian Weaver, Melody Kuhn and Alyssa Ellison.
Harry O. Pence, son of Mae E. Pence, North Manchester, has been promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of master sergeant.
Dolores Vanator, Leesburg, performs with the Hoosierettes, an all-girl precision drill unit at Indiana University. Organized last year, the 50 Hoosierettes have thrilled many a football and basketball audience with their drills, twirling and precision dance routines. They are selected by audition.
One of the largest, if not the largest, red beets grown in Kosciusko County, is now on exhibition at the W.E. Davis store in Burket. The beet weighs 12-1/4 pounds and was raised by George Dreiztler.
