A fall 2005 move-in date is anticipated. 25 Years Ago Reinholt Furniture Raiders won the Warsaw Flag Football League championship for the second year in a row by beating the Holiday Lane Bears 42-14: Stu Watkins, Randy Barber, Craig Kantner, Steve Sands, Keith Reinholt and sons, Ed Drudge, Troy Furnivall, Bob Stevenson, Brian Heckaman, Rick Littlejohn, Errol White, Charlie Miller and John Littlejohn and son. Lightfoot, Warsaw, has been designated a Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions Club International Foundation, the foundation’s highest honor, in recognition of his service to the community. He has been a member of Lions for more than 47 years. Jefferson Elementary School fourth-graders Jonathon McGlothin and Sarah Lozano are winners of the Winona Lake Fire Department fire prevention poster contest. 50 Years Ago Punt, Pass and Kick first-place winners, sponsored by the Herm Schaefer Ford Co., were Ted Pinnick, James Tinkey, John Wallace, Raymond Watts, Rodney Weed, Bob Wiltrout; second place: Andrew Bradway, Bill Cocks, Dave Ellis, Dennis Manning, John Hanna, Gary Goshert; third place-Bing Johnston, Denny Hepler, Mark Davis, Patrick Bennett, Steve Bair, Larry Fifer. Third place in the nine-year-old group was so close that Denny Hepler and Bill Stephenson tied; Hepler won the rematch. The boys received jackets, plaques, kicking sets and autographed footballs as prizes. Susan Chinworth, 17, will perform with the Warsaw Senior High Band at the football game with Concord, the last home game of the season. She spent two weeks this summer at the Smith-Walbridge drum major camp at Syracuse. 75 Years Ago City school teachers Helen Sloane, music, and Pauline George, home economics, were looking through a picture book containing skits of the operetta, “Joan of the Nancy Lee,” which the high school music department will present this year at the new auditorium. George and the home ec students will make the costumes. Members of the library board and others attended a lecture by Professor Emmy Zweybruck, internationally known art teacher from Vienna. Miriam Netter, local librarian, Mrs. Ford Hardman and Mrs. J.W. Scott arranged the evening at the library.
