10 Years AgoNovember 11 marked the 100th family adoption in Combined Community Services' Adopt A Family program. Mike Gill Auto and Truck Parts is the 100th organization to adopt a family this year. According to CCS Director of Client Assistance Dan Clay, this is very early in the season to already surpass 100 family adoptions. Last year 128 families were adopted. The Adopt A Family program allows families, businesses, groups and organizations to choose a low-income family for the holiday season and take care of their needs.25 Years AgoEdith Rohrer, a home economics instructor at Warsaw Middle School, has been chosen as one of 400 teachers from across the nation to attend a new program called "The New Professionals." The program was established this year to encourage beginning teachers to further their understanding of vocational education. Rohrer and the others chosen will be attending the American vocational Association Convention in Atlanta, Ga., in December.50 Years AgoMr. and Mrs. Donald Boggs, Leesburg, entertained Mr. and Mrs. Turner Boggs, of Mentone, at Thanksgiving dinner. Other holiday guests were Mr. and Mrs. James Beeson and son, Larry, of Mentone.75 Years Ago John Widaman, Warsaw High School star last year, was among the 18 members of the Indiana University freshman football team that received invitations to the Bo McMillan banquet, honoring the Indiana coach and the 1935 Indiana Team. Besides the honor, the invitation means that the man receiving it will be awarded a numeral and will be one of the candidates for next year's team.
