    Owen Compton, a senior at Warsaw Community High School, has been named to the Indiana Academic All-State tennis team. He is one of 50 tennis players in the state to receive the honor.

Owen is the son of Rick and Ann Compton.

November 29 1983

    Eighty-year-old runner Art Chaney of Warsaw won three gold medals and three silver medals in the Golden Age Games in Sanford, Fla., earlier this month.

Chaney won the mile run, the 220-yard dash and the softball hitting. He was second in the 50- and 100-yard dashes and the softball throw.

    Barbara Briggs was crowned Bourbon Basketball Queen by retiring Queen Joan Slabaugh. Ann Peterson was the sophomore candidate and Sharon Aker was the junior class candidate.

November 29 1933

    Thomas Bowman Sr., of Pierceton, was in Warsaw recently and called at The Times. In renewing his subscription, Bowman stated that he had read the Indianian and The Times for more than 60 years. Thomas Bowman is in his 89th year and served during the Civil War, he being one of the two veterans of that war now residing in Washington Township.
