The 1999 Interscholastic Official Association award went to Warsaw's Dan Richard, who has served as a licensed IHSAA official for the last 10 years. He earned the honor for excellence in officiating volleyball.

Four thousand, three hundred and fifty-seven area shoppers are currently spending nearly half a million dollars in Christmas savings funds. This increase of 52 additional Christmas club members over last year should mark a boon to the 1959 Christmas shopping. Thirteen banks in the Warsaw-north central Indiana area reported to the Times-Union that they have paid out in cash $448,336.50 to their 4,357 Christmas Club members.
According to residents of Winona Lake, a petition soon will be sent to the post office department at Washington asking that the Winona Lake post office be moved from its present location on Lakeshore drive to the hill, somewhere on Chestnut street, where it will be near the permanent residents. The reason for the change is that Winona Lake will soon have enough mail to make it a first-class office. A number of homes are to be erected on the 14-acre tract.
