10 Years Ago The cost of an average Thanksgiving dinner is higher than ever this year, according to an annual survey by the Indiana Farm Bureau. The farm advocacy group said the cost of turkey, stuffing, cranberries and other ingredients for a traditional holiday meal for 10 people is $38.62, a 90-cent increase from 2001 and $3.75 from 2000. The previous high was $37.63 in 1999, according to the informal survey. 25 Years Ago Warsaw Community High School seniors Terrance Mack and Paul Calloway competed in last Sunday’s St. Louis Marathon, with both completing the course. It was the first marathon for Calloway. 50 Years Ago Miss Johanna Wright, of Warsaw, a student at Indiana University, spent the weekend at Purdue University as a guest of Miss Jerriann Clark. While there, Johanna attended the Indiana and Purdue football game and the variety show on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray O. Staley, of near Warsaw, write that they have arrived safe and sound in Sarasota, Fla., and enjoyed a pleasant trip. They report that the temperature there is about 75 degrees and the weather is fine. 75 Years Ago Warsaw Boy Scouts, under the supervision of Scoutmaster Freeland Phillips, have been working overtime assembling some 1,800 Christmas Seal letters for mailing. These letters are for Warsaw and Kosciusko County and many operations are necessary: stamping, folding, assembling and sealing. Nearly 250,000 seals will be used. Scoutmaster Phillps is a director of the Kosciusko County Tuberculosis Association.
