    Warsaw Community High School recently handed out its fall athletic awards at a banquet at the Career Center Gym.

Most valuable players are: Nancy Mason, volleyball; Bobbi Wildman, girls soccer; Summer Boyd, girls cross country; Brooke Westover, girls golf; Brett Dickerson, boys soccer; David Hoffert, boys cross country; Derrick Duncan, football; Shanna Smith, volleyball; Matt Brown, boys soccer; Craig Harman, boys tennis.

    Area Daughters of the American Revolution groups have named their selections for DAR Good Citizen scholarship contest.

Laura Unzicker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Unzicker, Claypool, has been selected to represent Tippecanoe Valley High School and the Anthony Nigo Chapter DAR. Connie Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Martin, Bourbon, was selected from Triton High School.

    Veteran Kosciusko County Republican workers Sherman Gerard, Bessie Bybee and Mrs. C.H. Bennett were among those honored at a 2nd District GOP dinner meeting in Knox.

Gerard, of Prairie Township, received an award as this county's precinct committee man with the most years of service. Dual awards went to Bybee, of Harrison Township, and Bennett, of Warsaw, for their long service as precinct committee women.

    The Wawasee Ice Yacht Club was organized at a meeting of ice boat owners held in Syracuse. This is the first club of its kind to be organized in Indiana.

Carl Tuttle was elected commodore; Charles Kroh, first vice commodore; and Monroe Kehr, second vice commodore.
