Lou Forte, manager of publishing operations of J.C. Penney, was recently in the Warsaw division of R.R. Donnelley & Sons to present an award to Mary Jo Stapleton, the first winner in the J.C. Penney catalog improvement contest. The award is given for the best idea that helps the J.C. Penney business.
Winners of the most valuable and most improved awards at the Warsaw Community High School fall sports banquets were: Michelle Sand, MVP, and Lisa Lackey, MIP, in volleyball; Rachel Jeffreys, MVP, and Jill Sturgill, MIP, girls cross country; Missy Herndon, MVP, and Karen Mikel, MIP, swimming; Jennifer Deeter, MVP, and Lisa Keough, MIP, golf; Larry Plummer, MVP, and Rich Seitz, MIP, football; Matt Rhodes, MVP, and Ryan Weihler, MIP, cross country; and Doug Gossman, MVP, and Steve Hollar, MIP, tennis.
An art exhibit of works created by Indiana High School students who participated last summer in a two-week workshop at Ball State College will be shown Jan. 19 to 29 at Leesburg High School. Gloria Kay Smith, of Leesburg, has items in the exhibit.
Nellie Killian presented a group of her pupils in an informal recital at the home of Mrs. Ralph Bartol, East Center Street. Those taking part were: Lois Carol Robinson, Margaret Bartol, Delores Yarian, Sybil Saylor, Winona Norris, Edith Yarian, Dickey Robinson and Ruth Arnold.
