Warsaw FFA members Amanda Fozo, Whitney Small, Mallory Martin and Kacee Steffe received a gold emblem during the horse evaluation competition in Louisville, Ky. The team was accompanied by their advisors, Lynnette Markley, Tippecanoe, and Kraig Bowers, Etna Green, and their coach, Jan Martin, Warsaw.
Lowery Sewing and Vacuum Center, 707 E. Winona Ave., Warsaw, is featured in the November 2004 edition of Business People Magazine. According to the story written by Cindy Purvis, “In more than 50 years of business, Lowery’s has grown from a small sewing machine repair shop operated out of owner Britt Harman’s great-grandfather’s garage to become one of the largest fabric and quilting stores in northern Indiana.”

For the fifth consecutive year, Petro’s GM Showplace parts department’s Keith Pagel and Kim Hill were awarded the GM Parts Pacesetter Award based on excellence in operation and customer satisfaction. Kim Leasure was awarded Cadillac’s master craftsman ring – one of only 750 nationwide.
Morris Wilkie, Bremen, is Explorer Van’s Employee of the Month. He has worked there for 3-1/2 years, and is now plant supervisor of the fiberglass shop.
North Webster Elementary fifth-graders were given a tour of Lakeside Chevrolet by Mickey Landers: Orie Conley, Sharada Nethaway, Kris Wiley, Tara Evans and Josh Lundy. They also received T-shirts and were taken to lunch.

City police are conducting a thorough investigation after recovering a late model motorcycle in approximately 12 feet of water in a gravel pit just east of Warsaw. The cycle, owned by Terry Lee Hatfield, was discovered by L.N. “Pete” Thorn while fishing in the gravel pit owned by him and city councilman Joseph Lessig.
The typical weekend food shopper spends 29 minutes in the store buying 40 items that add up to $18.40. The store makes a 23 cents net profit.
Charles Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnson, Syracuse, was chosen as “Sailor of the Month” for September 1964. Johnson, 24, a petty officer second class, is stationed in Rhode Island.

Former Oswegoan Ralph Church, now in the U.S. Navy, will be among those several men to accompany Admiral Richard Byrd on his next expedition to the South Pole. Ralph graduated from Leesburg High School in 1929.
Thirty-three Daily Times newsboys have accepted the invitation of the manager of Gooding Amusement Company, now playing at the Kosciusko County fair, to be his guests. The carriers are instructed to meet at the Times office and, wearing their newspaper bags as identification, march to the company’s trailer car office where their escort will take them on tour of the shows and rides, all free.
