Warsaw boys basketball team led just once Friday, a mere 3.1 seconds, but the Tigers led when it mattered most. In a Northern Lakes Conference clash with visiting Goshen, the Tigers scored but three points in the first quarter, trailed by 14 midway through the third, and on the shoulders of senior Jared Shaw came away a 50-49 winner. The 6-foot, 4-inch Shaw scored 18 of his game high 23 points in the fourth, including a pair of free throws with 3.1 seconds remaining, as Warsaw improved to 12-1 on the season.

The regular meeting of the Leesburg Lions met in the den recently. The meeting opened in usual form with three guests present. After a short business meeting, the speaker of the evening was Ray Iona, vice-president and general manager of G.T.I. Circuits Division in Leesburg. He gave an interesting and informative talk on the items manufactured in this division which are printed circuit boards for automobiles and electric typewriters and many other types of equipment.

Dale E. Mikel, 33, who resides three miles west of Milford, was acclaimed Kosciusko County’s “Outstanding Young Farmer of 1961” in the local American Legion Home at a banquet sponsored by the Warsaw Junior Chamber of Commerce. Mikel will be a candidate for the state title Jan. 27 in Indianapolis.

Miss Pat Shane was hostess to a group of young friends at a slumber party at her home in Warsaw, following the Elkhart-Warsaw game and the Eagle dance. The girls enjoyed bridge and a lunch was served later. Those attending were Maxine Pittenger, Janice Ruse, Mary Jane Griffith, Mary Lou Yotter, and the hostess, Pat Shane. Breakfast was served in bed.
