    Todd Deaton was named 1997 volunteer "Fireman of the Year" by the Warsaw Fire Dept. Volunteer unit Capt. Brooks Huffer presented Deaton with the award.

    Rex Hoffman of Hoffman Simplicity, Old 30 West, Warsaw, has been one of 12 Simplicity dealers selected from across the country to visit the Port Washington, Wisc., manufacturing plant and evaluate the new tractor line for 1985.


50 Years Ago

January 12 1958

    Along Ind. 15, 1-1/2 miles north of Silver Lake (11 miles south of Warsaw), the grand opening of a new public dining establishment is now underway, and food is being prepared daily to delight the palate of the most discerning connoisseur.

Featuring aged steaks and "chicken in a wagon," the new one-half million dollar development is known as the Claypool Sales' Steer Inn, "Indiana's Finest Restaurant."

75 Years Ago

January 12 1933

    One hundred and twenty persons attended the public installation ceremony for the Masonic Blue Lodge at Warsaw Masonic temple. Officials installed were: Worshipful master, George Lambert; senior warden, Maurice DePoy; junior warden, George Bowser; treasurer, E.B. Funk; secretary, Arden Poor; senior deacon, Leland Kinsey; junior deacon, Chester Jontz; senior stewart, Frank Brennan; junior stewart, F.O. Rarick; tyler, Virgil Yeager; and trustee, Everett Rasor.
