10 Years
Of the 19 area students nominated for the "Indiana Leaders of Tomorrow" program, Alicia Swank, a senior at Warsaw Community High School and daughter of Gene and Sue Swank, received the top cash award Tuesday, Nov. 15, from Jack Moore, community relations manager for Sprint. The Times-Union and Sprint sponsored the statewide program. Alicia was nominated by her grandmother, Ruth Roberts. All nominations from around the state were reviewed by a panel, and she was one of the 13 district finalists in the state. Alicia has been on the high honor roll for her entire school career, having a grade point average of 12.53. She plans a career in medicine.

25 Years

Jane Scott, administrator at Warsaw Community Development Corporation, has joined the Warsaw Library Board. She was appointed by the Kosciusko County Commissioners Monday, Nov. 12, to fill the vacancy left by Ilene Snider, who resigned as trustee in mid-October. Snider's term ends July 1994.

    John Teevan and Joe Kimpel were honored as co-caddies of the year at Stonehenge Golf Course Sunday evening, Nov. 11. The Most Improved awards went to Cregg Freeman and Pat Nelson. Rose Harroff and Jack Schutz were winners of the Player of the Year award. Denny Hepler is the teaching pro.

50 Years

Some of the spooks in Mrs. Winifred Philapy's kindergarten class at Madison School: Bobbie Barringer, Gypsy; Randy Roberts, clown; Ronda Weed, pussy cat; Debra Barnett, Polly Crockett; Susan Bolinger, witch; Julie Oakes, sun flower; Timmy May, ghost; David Light, witch doctor. Students paraded through the classrooms.

     Grace College cheerleaders for 1965-66: Joan Meyer, Linda Ashman, Lee Humberd, Sherry Hyre and Gretchen Sprunger. Opening basketball game for the Lancers is Nov. 19 against Greenville College.

    State Highway 25-year awards: Robert J. Pfleiderer, Malcomb Porter, Fred Bernoske, Albert Livingston and Rollo Roath.

75 Years

A Cooking School begins at 1:00 Thursday, October 31, at the Centennial Theatre, and will continue the next two Thursdays preceding the regular matinee. Classes are under the supervision of Ann L. Olson, college graduate in home economics, Cambridge, Mass. All the foods prepared during each day's school are to be given to members of the audience, with a grand prize given at the final school.

    Frank Brenneman, 82, lifetime resident of Plain Township, has voted in every election since 1880 when James A. Garfield was elected. He does most of the work on his 80-acre farm, and has been a reader of The Times for nearly 70 years.

    Over 1,000 large mouth bass were distributed in Kosciusko County's lakes and streams Tuesday, Oct. 29. The fingerlings were raised in fish ponds at Rochester.
