Joshua Nifong, a 2003 graduate of Triton High School, has been part of the varsity cross-country team at Manchester College for three years. He served as captain of the Spartans this season.
Washington Elementary School student council raised more than $2,200 for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Sponsors were Mrs. King and Mrs. Dick. In an exhibition game at the new Tiger Den Saturday night, Nov. 10, which was dubbed the "Civil War," members from two of the most successful Warsaw boys basketball teams put on a good show for the crowd. The 1981 squad defeated the 1984 team, 103-99, in the first game played in the Tiger Den. The winners were led by Eric Sebo, with 23, and Ron Brandenburg, with 20. Other players: Tony Sumpter, Randy Heisler, Mike Petro, Mike Bradford, Dan Wray, John Snyder, Herb Bailey, Roger Brandon, Mike Miller, Monte Bolinger, Dale Norris, Brad Whaley and Brent Messmore. The 1984 team was led by Marty Lehmann, with 34, Steve Hollar, with 19, and Tracy Furnivall, with 15. Other players: Rob Randels, Joe Sands, Mike Hall, Jeff Tucker, Robert Johnson, Scott Long and Mike Lynch.
50 Years
Charles Myers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Myers, Bourbon, will be honored with an Eagle Award Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the First United Church of Christ. Former Governor of Indiana, Henry Schricker, will present the award. He is a pioneer in Boy Scout work, being among the first to organize Scouting in Indiana many years ago.
Judi Dippon and Jo Ellen McClintic, majorettes with the Milford High School Band, are featured in a twirl and strut routine at the annual fall band concert at the high school Friday, Oct. 29.

Kosciusko County's first entry for the 1940 International Livestock exposition was made this week by Carlyle F. Grimm, 16, of Nappanee. He will exhibit an Aberdeen-Angus baby beef of his own raising in the junior livestock feeding contest of this largest annual livestock show, which will be held in its 41st renewal November 30 to December 7 at the Chicago stock yards.
Theatre owner John Boice is celebrating his 43rd birthday and his and the Mrs.' 21st wedding anniversary on Friday, Nov. 1.
Dr. Hugh Snyder, of Milford, was elected registrar at the 50th annual convention of the Northern Indiana Dental Society Thursday, Oct. 24.
