Nathan Taylor, a senior at Warsaw Community High School and son of Paula Taylor, signed his letter of intent to swim for Purdue University and head coach Don Ross. He plans on majoring in engineering. Taylor won the state title in the 100 breaststroke under coach Terry Aukeman when he was a junior.

     Warsaw Christian School Quality Character Awards for October: Sydney Fox, Mia Harvey, Brady Gross, Alyssa Teune, Jacob Marshall, Christy Carson, Dominic DeGaetano, Bethany Collett, Liza Airgood, Stone Rager, Brett Carson, Hanna Pratt, Julianne Haines, Logan Kneller, Erika Schneider, Cameron Hathaway, Melanie Holladay, Jeremiah Ochoa, Kaitlyn Arford and Michal Meeker.

 

25 Years

Bess M. Croop, 99, East Center St., Warsaw, has voted in every election since women were given the right to vote in 1920. She will celebrate her 100th birthday on March 8.

    Craig Stouder, Etna Green, and his show truck were winners at the sixth annual 4-wheel and off-road fall nationals competition in Indianapolis. About 3,000 trucks competed. His truck, "Naturally Wired," won third place in the 36 to 39-inch tire classification.

    Lincoln Elementary School will represent Kosciusko County on a holiday campaign to decorate Christmas trees at the State Capitol. The students fashioned decorations according to Polish tradition for the county's tree. Mary Ettinger is the art teacher. Among the students are Erin Jury, Marrissa Hamman, Susan Donkers, Laura Lozier and Jill Schlotterback.

50 Years

Stephen Burgh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Luke Burgh, Warsaw, was awarded a Red Cross Certificate of Merit from Conservation Officer Earl Money, Syracuse chairman of the county Red Cross water safety program, for his courageous rescue of Chris Shaw from the waters of Pike Lake following a boating mishap.

    Sunday, Oct. 31, marks 22 years of perfect attendance at Sunday School for Earl Himes of North Webster. He has attended the North Webster Methodist Church Sunday School since Nov. 2, 1943, serving as teacher, superintendent, trustee and assistant choir director. Mr. Himes retired in September of this year after three years with the advertising staff of The Times-Union, just his latest endeavor.

75 Years

Cole Bros. Circus co-owner Zack Terrell confirmed that the circus would winter at Louisville, Ky. fairgrounds this year, but return to Rochester for the winter of 1941-42. Winter quarters here had been destroyed by fire last February, but will be rebuilt during the summer. The circus moved to Peru, Ind., into buildings formerly owned by the Ringling Bros. circus, for the duration of the cold weather.

    Roger L. Sanders, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Sanders, East Market Street, Warsaw, was accepted into the U.S. Army Flying Cadet Corps Wednesday, Oct. 23. For the past 10 months, he has been employed as a representative of the DePuy Splint Company here, and traveled out of Nebraska territory.
