    MARION - Emily Joy Brown and Laura Joy Petersen were accepted as honor students at Indiana Wesleyan University for the 1999 fall semester.

Brown is the daughter of Stanley and Elaine Brown, South Whitley, and will study elementary education. Petersen is the daughter of Marvin and Mary Petersen, Etna Green, and will study social work.

    Terry Woodling, a rural Warsaw man, and an engineer at DePuy, made a model Army Halftrack using 38,000 toothpicks. He was been working on the 1943 model for seven months and estimates it will take a year to complete.

November 17 1958

    Earl McKenzie, Claypool, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe McKenzie, was a spectator casualty of last night's basketball game between Claypool and Milford.

Earl was jabbed by someone's elbow as a row of fans rocked back and forth on the bleachers. Today he is in Murphy Medical Center with a possible rib fracture.

    Guy D. Dill, Pierceton, representative of the New York Life Insurance Co., the largest in the world, for the month of October was given the high rating of 10th place in volume of policies written for that company in both the United States and Canada.
