    Jim Coons, Syracuse, has been named executive director of Combined Community Services, replacing Marty Courtney.

Courtney and Coons will work together until the middle of December when Courtney officially retires.

    Area Grace College students inducted into Alpha Chi national honor scholarship society are Robert Nilsen, Jon Alcorn and Tim Johnson, all of Warsaw, and Kathy Allison and John Nelson, both of Winona Lake.

    Scoutmaster Lloyd Perkins pinned the Eagle Scout award on the uniform of Harry Ringer, 17, during a ceremony at First Methodist Church, Warsaw. Harry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Ringer, East Clark Street. He is a senior at Warsaw High School and a member of the church troop number 30.

    Kosciusko County ranks in 36th place in the entire United States as a leading dry-onion county, according to acreage harvested and value of the product, according to the Dept. of Commerce report recently. This county ranks 36th both on number of acres harvested and on value of the onions marketed.

Kosciusko County harvested onions last year from 567 acres for a total value of $114, 981.
