Five Kosciusko County students will travel to Washington, D.C., after winning the Marsh Supermarkets "Back to school" student essay contest.
Four area residents competed in the Indianapolis Marathon recently and did quite well. Brian Sponseller, an Atwood area resident, finished second overall with a time of 2 hours, 31 minutes among a field of 550 runners. Paul Sibray, a Claypool Elementary school teacher, was the winner of the 30-34 age group and finished 21st overall. Not far behind him was county attorney Rex L. Reed, who finished second in the 40-44 age group. Another local runner, George White, of Etna Green, also competed.
Times-Union publisher and Mrs. Raymond B. (Ted) Williams, of Country Club Drive, left recently for their winter home in Sarasota, Fla.
Neighbors and friends, 30 in number, gathered at the Henry Zimmerman farm, two miles west of Clunette. After taking possession of a field of corn, all hands became busy to such an extent that when noon arrived, 200 bushels of corn had been cribbed and most of the fodder hauled to the feed lot. Mr. Zimmerman with illness in his family considers himself greatly favored to be relieved of this work at this time.
