The bond between the two is evident. The family of Bob and Esther English is hosting a 90th birthday open house Jan. 18 at the Pierceton United Methodist Church. The Silver Horseshoe has been in Mentone’s possession over a span of 32 consecutive games against Kosciusko County opponents. Pierceton will keep the Horseshoe until it loses to a county cage foe. Stanley Evans, Warsaw school board, made the motion, seconded by Douglas Hoffer, to close part of South Union Street to make space for three additional roooms at Washington School. Pierson, vice-chief of staff; Dr. Thomas Keough, secretary-treasurer. 75 Years Ago Beaver Dam High School’s basketball team will open an 18-game schedule Nov. 1 against Sidney at Sidney, according to Glen Longenecker, principal. The Beavers will be under the guidance of a new coach, Robert Hahn. It is expected that the Blue and Gold will have one of the county’s best teams. James Tressler has been named Daily Times correspondent for Beaver Dam for the school year, 1938-39; Junis VanCuren, Etna Green High School; Robert Anderson, Mentone High School. Bill Bixler, 17, won the Pierceton High School’s corn-husking contest Saturday at the Alva Outcelt farm six miles northeast of Warsaw. The district championship is at the Ray Riner farm, Mentone. James Outcelt was runner-up. Vocational agriculture instructor is E.F. Ketzil.
