An unnamed individual donated $10,000 to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine told the county council. He said along with the donation, the man wrote a heartfelt letter saying he felt compelled to give the money to the local sheriff’s department because of the work of the emergency personnel in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. The person wants to remain anonymous.

The Kosciusko County Home Extension Clubs awarded a $500 scholarship to Anne Elizabeth Singleton, daughter of David and Judy Singleton, at their annual fall luncheon recently. Ann attends Purdue University majoring in history. Judy Singleton accepted the award for her daughter from Carlyn Cox, education committee chairman. The luncheon was held at the Shrine Building with 150 members and guests attending.

P.N. Hirsch & Company will be back in business in Warsaw Thursday when it opens its beautiful new, modern store at the southeast corner of Market and Buffalo streets. It will be remembered that on March 25 of this year, fire totally destroyed the Hirsch store with damage estimated at close to $500,000 (including damage to Brennan’s Drug Store on the east side and Ringle’s Furniture store on the south side.)

Miss Sara Van Dyke of DePauw University, Greencastle; Judson Lytle of Manchester College, North Manchester; Dick Silveus, and the Misses Jean and Billie Sims spent Sunday evening in Indianapolis.

Junior Croop, son of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Croop, of this city, returned to Lafayette today after spending the weekend with his parents. Young Croop is a student at Purdue University.
