    Verna Montel is just like anybody else. And like all of us, she has to do the rather mundane, but necessary, chore of renewing her driver's license.

Unlike the rest of us, however, Montel, 98, of Atwood, has had to renew hers many more times. "I really just want my driver's license, so I can drive up to the post office," she said at the Warsaw license branch. "I've been driving since 1920, and I've only had one accident."

    Five Warsaw Community High School students participated in the All-State Choir, which performed at the Music Educators Conference in Indianapolis recently. Choir members are: Jo Deane Metzger, Joely Earl, Todd Zimmerman, Tad Frank and Jennifer Locke. They were chosen following auditions for 12 positions in a six-county area. The WCHS choral director is Sue Williamson.

November 11 1959

    Adam Valentine, who was 79 last June, drove from New Jersey to Indiana with a fractured vertebra, it was reported today at Murphy Medical Center where he is a patient.

Valentine fell out of a tree while picking apples at his home in Martinsville, N.J., before leaving on the trip. Determined not to let a hard jolt interfere with his plans, he left next morning for Winona Lake to visit his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Cahill.

    Mrs. Princess Cook was hostess to the Book Lovers Club recently at her home at Winona Lake. Response to roll call was "Corners of U.S.A. I Have Seen." After a short business session, the club listened to a review of the book, "The Great Technology," by Harold Rugg, given by Miss Enid Bowles.
