10 Years Ago NASA representatives visited Triton Jr./Sr. High School recently to talk about their jobs and responsibilities with the agency. Triton won the visit from the NASA officials after a team of Triton students took first place in a patch design contest. Those students were eighth-graders Maria Espinosa, Ashley Balliger, Erica Finchum, Josh Foust and Ty Bradley, and ninth-grader Zach Bradley. 25 Years Ago NIPSCO repair crews braved the frigid temperatures recently to fix a minor gas leak along Center Street, but were kept warm with lots of coffee, thanks to the 121 Center St. Yogurt Shop, according to NIPSCO spokesman Jim Manhart. The workers most graciously accepted the coffee free of charge during the eight-hour project, he said. 50 Years Ago Mr. and Mrs. David E. Sellers, of Etna Green, left recently for North Dakota for the inauguration of their nephew, William L. Guy, who is the governor of North Dakota. Governor Guy, who was once a resident of this area, is now beginning his second term in office. Mr. and Mrs. Sellers both are retired from the teaching profession. 75 Years Ago Paul Shunk recently displayed his newest model air-propelled iceboat on Warsaw’s Center Lake. Shunk has built several such iceboats. His previous model was a tractor type. This one has the propeller in the rear, a pusher type. It seats four passengers, attains a speed of 60 miles per hour from a Ford engine and has all conveniences of an auto.
