Just 10 years ago the first issue of The Daily Times was printed in its new home, corner of Market and Indiana streets. The removal of its linotypes and heavy newspaper printing press was no small problem, because the machinery had to be "taken down," moved and reassembled in the new Times building.

The Daily Times made its first appearance in September 1881, from The Indianian building now occupied by the Lake City Bank. Later, and for many years, The Times Office was in the building now occupied by Powers' clothing store. It was the daily edition of the old weekly Northern Indianian, the first founder was away in the service for his country.
