Warsaw’s Tiger Pride Band competed at Penn High School in the Class A Division, receiving a First Division rating and placing third overall among 190 bands from across the state. Herschel Williams retired from the maintenance department of Prairie View Health Care Center after nine years of service. Susan Stump was named Employee of the Month, according to Dottie Snavely. She has served as activity director since 1988. 50 Years Ago The Arnolt Corp. will be among more than 400 manufacturers displaying 1965 products at the Chicago Marine Trades Exhibit and Conference Sept. 17-20. Arnolt’s main feature will be a motor-powered Iva-Lite which officials believe will revolutionize the concept of navigation lighting. Designed for large cruisers and yachts, the spotlight is 19-1/2 inches wide and 15-1/2 inches high, constructed from brass and bronze with heavy, copper nickel chrome plating and has a multiple switch system. George Ball, Warsaw, and Richard McElroy, Louisiana, found some large puff balls near Warsaw. The large one measured five feet in circumference and weighed 14 pounds. 75 Years Ago Chief of Police Raymond Neff purchased a big box of all-day suckers (150) and will have officers give them to kids living along the path of the Road 30 detour as they are being told to “be careful.” Ira Burk, Silver Lake vicinity, who has a record of working nearly 80 years in a sawmill, has had an offer to appear on the Ripley “Believe It or Not” radio program from New York.
