    It was 10 years ago on Oct. 16, 1999, that Elder-Beerman had their grand opening at the Warsaw Marketplace. Elder-Beerman is a full-service department store and had been in business at that time for 116 years.

October 7 1984

    Marty L. Manuel, Warsaw, received a Purdue University School of Agriculture Scholarship Award of Excellence from Martin L. Stob, professor of animal sciences. The $1,000 awards, donated by private sponsors, were presented at a reception for School of Agriculture students and faculty.


50 Years Ago

October 7 1959

    Warsaw Postmaster Frank O. Rarick, and Mrs. Rarick, left Warsaw by auto for Buffalo, N. Y., where the 33rd degree, highest degree in Scottish Rite Masonry, will be conferred on Mr. Rarick.

This will be the first time in the history of Masonry in Kosciusko County that the 33rd degree has been conferred on a resident of the county.

75 Years Ago

October 7 1934

    Mr. and Mrs. Milo Maloy just returned from Indianapolis, where they attended the Indiana state conference on social work. Mr. Maloy was made state president of the Association of County Poor Asylum Superintendents.
