Pierceton's Pony League won its championship to wind up their season undefeated (14-0). The team consisted of: Alan Robbins, Marc Walters, Trent Stamper, Brett Lukens, Wes Kellog, Kevin Feldman, Coach Aaron Robbins, Dan Vandewalle, Dane Bause, Scott Kiser, Mitch McAfoose, Ryan Jackson, Scott Elder and Matt Protzman, William Knepper, Eric English and Paul Dausman.
For years, City Park Superintendent Richard Hamman has dreamed of cleaning out the dense brush and turning Camp Lucerne into one of the finest wildlife retreats in the area. After two summers of hard work, Hamman and his city park crews have done just that.
Lee Norman (Pete) Thorn, Baker Boys club director, and Mrs. Hazel Murphy, president of Murphy Medical Center, were honored as Warsaw's first "Man and Woman of the Year" award winners as a highlight of the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet, held at the Elks home. Chamber President Joe Mendenhall presented each with plaques donated by The Times-Union.
Dr. Hoffman, instructor at the theological school at Winona Lake, was the Rotary club speaker recently. His subject was "Traveling Impressions, While Abroad." "Jimmie" Akron was admitted to membership in the club as a "baby member. Music was lead by Gerald Overymyer, with Wilbur Maish Jr. at the piano.
